We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Literacy Practitioner to join our team. The position will be responsible to deliver and coordinate programming that supports Indigenous learners in strengthening their foundational skills. The facilitator will guide learners through literacy and numeracy development, financial literacy, communication, digital competencies, and planning practices. This role includes one-on-one and group-based instruction, curriculum development, and community project support.

 

Key Responsibilities:
 

• Deliver instruction in essential skills, including reading, writing, oral communication, numeracy, digital literacy, and document use.

• Provide individualized and group-based learning support tailored to learner goals and needs.

• Support learners in developing financial literacy and creating personal budgets.

• Assist learners in setting and tracking personal goals; support portfolio development to showcase learning progress.

• Collaborate with learners engaged in cultural and trades programming to support planning and project completion.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and culturally respectful learning environment.

• Develop and adapt learning materials that are culturally relevant and learner-centered.

• Engage with community partners and contribute to community-based programming.

• Track learner progress and contribute to program evaluation and reporting.

Qualifications:


• Experience in adult education, essential skills instruction, or community-based learning.
• Understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and learning approaches.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a learner-first mindset.
• Knowledge of literacy and numeracy development strategies.
• Experience with digital learning tools and basic financial literacy concepts.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
• Experience supporting learners with diverse needs and learning styles.

• Assist in maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the center.
